We can all agree that 2020 has been one hell of a year. For the first time in history the world was confronted with a global threat that created historical change and exposed economic truths.
The citizens of the United States of America were particularly presented with a game changing wake up call. The events of the year disclosed some unrealistic facts. Facts that have always been there, but just unseen by millions of people. Hidden conversations, malicious agendas and systematic exploitation.
This country has been battling a tsunami of ineptitude since the election of Donald Trump in 2016. But Covid19 barged in and ripped a hole in our reality. Drastically changing lives, economies, legislation, and our overall way of life. Covid19 is a deadly virus with some questionable facts. I don't doubt it exists or has the ability to be detrimental. But I do have my concerns about how the US government reacted to its challenges.
State of Emergency was officially declared the week of March 12th 2020, and as early as March 4th in some states. At least 2 months after world leaders and elected officials were aware of its spread. The chief in command in the United States made a point to down play the virus for months and the CDC even refused assistance from the World Health Organization. After having no reported cases in the beginning out the pandemic, America quickly became the place Corona came to thrive.
There were extreme increases in the numbers and and it seemed like overnight, once live cities were like ghost towns. Local governments were shut down, businesses stopped, schools ended and we were all left with a lot of unanswered questions.

For months it appeared the media was deliberately trying to insight fear in the public. There was no clear information about who was dying and what other pre-existing conditions may have been present in the individuals who were succumbing to illness. New policies were put in place with the message that they were geared toward safety but caused a lot more confusion.
In the midst of an unsuspecting global pandemic, the black community is plagued by some all too familiar racial injustice and police brutality. We were still mourning the murder and public trial of Bothem Jean when we discovered that another brother had a similar fate at the hands of some racist white men in February. Ahmaud Arbery was haunted down like an animal, boxed in and murdered in cold blood by a man and his son, while another man watched and recorded the encounter. For months the murderers were allowed to live their lives with no consequence before finally being arrested in May.
In March, the beautiful and courageous Breonna Taylor was gunned down by police who entered her home and shot her to death. To this day no arrest have been made in her murder and that is beyond outrageous and unacceptable. The details behind her death will shock you beyond belief. In my home town of Rochester, NY Daniel T. Prude, a man battling mental health was brutally murder on camera. The local police attempted to cover it up before the video was released. The city remained calm until June, when a man by the name of George Floyd was too murdered on camera by cops.....do see the pattern?
George Floyd's death ignited a national and international flame. Black Lives Matter received support from around the world and from people who once had no interest in the movement. It seemed like the first time in decades that the world was looking and acknowledging the issues and the plight of black people in America. It appeared for the first time the vision was clear. It looked like this was our year.
We had the masses on our side, we were apart of the discussion, reoperations, mass incarceration, infant mortality. For centuries they tried to lead us to believe this country could not afford change, could not afford to make a mends with descendants of slavery, but in the wake of a pandemic, all of that was exposed for what it truly was. A bunch of lies used to escape accountability.

The United States, with ease had the ability to release trillions of dollars into the economy to bail out big corporations and provide financial relief to millions of Americans impacted by Covid19.
Now that begs the question, what else is this country refusing to do. despite every other developed Nation having universal Health care, we are still trying to convince this government that its healthcare system is not working and that citizens deserve and have a right to free healthcare. How has Covid19 not proven that?
We the people find our selves in a unique position, approaching the national election. On the cusp of electing new leaders and representatives, it is imperative that we use our voices and participate in the process, even if we only do it locally. In order for us to ensure change is made, we have to create it. It's our duty to take the information at hand and use it as a tool to make informed decisions.
Take control of your 2020 vision.
